History
In 1978 the German company Heitkamp GmbH opened operations in Venezuela and began the construction of the Butare Tunnel in the State of Falcon. Later, the company built the tunnel Curia in the Barlovento Region of the State of Miranda. From the late 1980s to the mid 1990’s the company developed the tunnels of Estanques (1500 mts) and Caña Brava (300mts) on the Pan-American highway in the State of Merida.

In June of 1987 the company “Heitkamp Constructions of Venezuela, HEICOVEN, S.A.” was founded with the help from a transnational venture of German and Venezuelan capital. During the previous 10 years, Heitkamp Gmbh’s work had been limited to the building of tunnels. Thus, the goal of the new company – HEICOVEN S.A. - was to expand Heitkamps’ reach into other areas of construction and engineering.

From its early years HEICOVEN relied on the technological support of Germany’s Heitkamp GmbH, which provided HEICOVEN with machinery and equipment. Heitkamp GmbH was also instrumental in the training of HEICOVEN’s technicians, site supervisors, and engineers. HEICOVEN was originally lead by Eng. Franz-Josef Hagedorn but in October of 2001 HEICOVEN became a completely Venezuelan company, which is now lead by Venezuelan Engineer Tulio J. López R.

HEICOVEN has dedicated most of its work to the development of engineering projects for the public sector, including federal, regional, and local governments. We have developed numerous projects for the Ministries of Infrastructure, Environment, and Natural Resources. We have also completed projects for several state governments including Miranda, Aragua, Carabobo, Merida, Trujillo, Anzoátegui.

Finally, we have been instrumental in the development of numerous projects for several public and private institutions such as Hidroven, Hidrocapital, Hidroandes, Hidrocaribe, Hidrollanos, Edelca, and others.
